New Find!

Tonight, I was watching Tori and Dean Home Sweet Hollywood. Tori has opened a boutique called InvenTORI and I happened to notice a box in one of the shots next to a very pretty Jadeite cake stand. Ladies and Gentleman, courtesy of the good taste of Tori Spelling, I give you Mosser Glass. Hello, Beautiful! Check out their new Butter Cream Set:

Off Topic: Frenchies!

From http://dailywag.marthastewart.com/2011/10/voodoo-shanty.html.  Just about the cutest screenshot ever.
Recently, I signed up for a subscription to Martha Stewart Weddings and received a complimentary copy of Martha Stewart Living magazine. In recent issues of MSL, I couldn't help but notice Martha's French bulldogs, Francesca and Sharkey. I was delighted to discover that they have their own blog. If you love Frenchies, as I do, you will seriously enjoy The Daily Wag. Told from the Frenchies' perspective, it's just too cute.

Pause And Refresh

I looked and it's been a little over a month since I last posted. Bah! I started student teaching, y'all.  Sorry! I've managed to sneak in some time for thrifting and found some great stuff I'm looking forward to posting about. Meanwhile, right after my last post, I happened to find another vintage wood framed mirror with beveled edges on the side of the road. Not quite as cool (in my humble opinion) as the first one but I was thrilled nonetheless. Also, remember this mirror? I saw it again today and Jesus has been removed. Yep. There's just a hint of an oval where He used to be. The doberman remains...waiting

Beautiful Trash

This mirror was left in the house Axl and I rent. I loved it. I'm pretty sure it had a lead glass mirror because it was extremely heavy. I had it sitting in the dining room waiting to hang up once we had things organized better. It was not resting in the best spot and I knew that but I thought it would be okay.... Unfortunately, Axl went looking for something the other day and, well, it got knocked over. Bummer.
Axl put it on the porch so it wouldn’t continue to break in the house and get dangerous mirror bits everywhere. Earlier this week, it began to rain and I thought it was a shame to let the whole thing go to waste so I went outside and took the back off the mirror. Using pliers, I pulled all the broken mirror pieces out of the frame. It turns out that the frame of the mirror had been repaired in the past because I discovered some nails in one of the corners of the frame that weren’t original to its construction. I have the frame in the house now and I’m trying to decide if I should have a new mirror cut for it or if I should turn the leftover into a bulletin board.
A few days ago, a neighbor up the street put this chair out on the curb. I love it but we’ve had a bedbug scare here in town and I just couldn’t take the risk (although I really, really wanted to). That fabric! I love the birds and the colors and the wingback style. So pretty! It’s a shame it’s going to the landfill.

Sorry if the pictures aren't all that great but I felt a little awkward standing in front of the neighbor's house with my camera so I rushed to get a few snaps. This chair reminds me of some furniture my grandmother had when I was a kid but her set was a horribly hot synthetic brown and tan wagon wheel pattern on faux distressed hard wood. I'd love to know what that pattern was called or see pictures if any of you know what I am talking about.

Daydreamin'

I recently discovered Wanderlust. What a fantastic idea! I went looking on my local Craigslist and...wow. There are some gorgeous trailers out there. This may just be my new goal: Goal one: Become independently wealthy. Goal 2: Buy a truck. Goal 3: Buy a travel trailer.

Seen While Thrifting

Yes, that is a doberman etched on a mirror with Jesus. Of all things...! It brought up all sorts of questions like, "Was the doberman a family pet?"

My Attempt At Vintage Brows

After watching this tutorial yesterday, I attempted to recreate Casey Brown's technique. Pardon the dark circles!

A Post to Start

     Welcome!  Happy Fourth of July!
When you move into a house with a bunch of cinder blocks and brush in the backyard, what else is there to do but build a firepit?

Our rat terrier, Stuart (a.k.a. Stu Dog)

Stu was loving being outside with us.

Marshmallows!

Tuckered out.
